At Discovery Village, we celebrate individuality—because every child is uniquely special! Our carefully designed SEND role-play sessions give children and their families the time, space, and gentle support they need to enjoy a truly immersive experience in our play village.
This July, we’re excited to welcome a very special guest: Captain Recycle! Join this fun and friendly hero as they lead children through imaginative play focused on caring for our planet. From interactive games to creative reuse adventures, Captain Recycle brings a new layer of learning and laughter to our inclusive environment.
Set in a relaxed atmosphere filled with empathy and joy, our SEND sessions invite children to explore sensory zones and themed play areas at their own pace—without the usual crowds or noise. It’s the perfect blend of fun and understanding, tailored just for you.
Inclusive play for all abilities
At Discovery Village, we’ve created a welcoming, inclusive space designed especially for children with special educational needs. Our role play areas are carefully planned to encourage interaction, communication, and confidence-building through play.
As children move through each zone, they’re free to explore at their own pace—whether that means jumping straight in or taking time to warm up. Every part of the village is designed to gently support development across the senses, with plenty of chances to see, touch, smell, and hear something new.
We believe in the power of play to inspire learning, and our village is full of opportunities for children to grow, connect, and have fun in a way that feels just right for them.
Accessibility and play
Discovery Village has been designed to be fully accessible to everyone who has a special educational need or disability. Our facilities are all located on the ground floor and every play zone is wheelchair accessible.
What to expect at our SEND play sessions
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, friendly environment. Our team will guide you to our cosy café area, where you can settle in before the fun begins. There’s no rush and no pressure—your child can explore at their own pace, in their own way.
Our open-plan role play village is filled with exciting toys, sensory elements, and themed areas designed to spark imagination and gently encourage interaction. Whether your child wants to join in the action or simply watch from a distance, they’re free to be as involved—or uninvolved—as they like.
This session features a special guest—Captain Recycle!
He’ll be popping in to lead playful songs, silly dances, and our ever-popular bubble disco on the village green! And at the end of the session, every child will receive a special sticker from Captain Recycle as a keepsake for their visit.
Throughout the session, our friendly village characters help guide the play experience with warmth and sensitivity, using music, storytelling, and gentle interaction to engage children in whatever way suits them best.
