Brickley The Builder’s Role Play Adventure
We’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new role play adventure “Brickley the Builder’s Construction Catastrophe”, a fully immersive story designed to support children’s learning and development through imaginative, active play. This experience places children right at the heart of Discovery Village as newly inducted builders, giving them a meaningful role, clear purpose, and plenty of opportunities to learn by doing.
Role play is a powerful tool in early childhood development. By stepping into the boots of a builder, children practise communication, listening, turn-taking, problem-solving, and teamwork, all within a playful, low-pressure environment. Brickley’s story has been carefully designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage children to engage with the world around them in a hands-on way.

Learning Through Play: Why Brickley the Builder Matters
On their first day at the Discovery Village construction site, children meet Brickley the Builder, who needs help fixing a series of building mishaps before the villagers need their projects completed. The adventure unfolds in stages, starting with a fun induction and a tool hunt where children explore the village to find missing equipment, learning colour matching, cooperation, and kindness along the way.
As the story progresses, Brickley introduces site safety, helping children understand real-world safety concepts in an age-appropriate way. Wearing high-vis vests, using checklists, and spotting hazards encourages awareness, responsibility, and early risk assessment skills.
The children then take on a series of building projects, sorting bricks by colour, constructing a school shed, building a beehive for Farmer Rusty Crow, and finally working together on a magical village fountain. Each task reinforces sequencing, problem-solving, listening, and collaboration, all wrapped in music, movement, and storytelling.

Supporting Child Development in Meaningful Ways
Throughout the adventure, children are encouraged to talk, move, think, and imagine. Activities such as sorting, building, pretending, and following instructions support early maths concepts, language development, motor skills, and social-emotional learning. Regular “tea breaks” add humour and structure, teaching routine, transitions, and self-regulation in a way children understand.
The story ends calmly with shared storytelling, tidying up together, and celebrating teamwork, reinforcing positive behaviour, responsibility, and pride in their achievements.
Brickley the Builder’s Construction Catastrophe isn’t just a story, it’s a full learning experience where play becomes the pathway to confidence, creativity, and connection. We can’t wait to welcome your little builders to Discovery Village.
